Inspiration
I am inspired by the natural world — valleys, mountains, oceans, and rivers.
But more than that, I am inspired by the rhythms of nature, the slow and steady shift from season to season. I love the scent of dew on rose petals on a spring morning and the rustle of dry grass as I walk to the river in late summer. The song of woodpeckers at sunrise, wood smoke on the wind, and the chill in the air as fall approaches, these moments all influence my work.

Winter isn't my favorite season and doesn’t inspire me in the same way, but it teaches me about rest, the ebb and flow of creativity, and the importance of turning inward to nurture my inner self for new growth in the new year. My logo, a gal riding a snail, reminds me to slow down and find magic and imagination in everyday moments. I create my designs and artwork through a slow, deliberate process. I try not to rush and often have materials set up and waiting until the spirit of creativity decides to visit.

My work is deeply influenced by my surroundings. I often see and feel emotions, words, and sounds as colors, which shape my color palettes. Small moments in life become artwork through my experience— hands pressed into soil, the first buds blooming in the garden, sunbeams and shadows, steaming tea, and soft tunes. I find inspiration in new plants on neighborhood walks, cool river waters, and stones and shells I find along the shore. I keep a lot of lists, photos, and scraps of sketches that I reference when I sit down to create. It’s a fun and personal process! Inspiring moments happen every day; sometimes I capture them in my art, and sometimes they pass by. My process evolves as I explore new materials and colors, and I’m excited to see where it leads me next.
